Clients
Clients are the people and companies you bill. Each client carries contacts, projects, invoices, payments, and a free-form tag list so you can segment them however you want.
Use the Clients page as your lightweight CRM — convert leads to clients, attach contracts, and see lifetime value at a glance.
Step-by-step
- 1Open the Clients page
From the sidebar, click Clients. The list shows name, primary contact, status, and total revenue. Use the search and tag filter at the top to narrow it down.
- 2Add a client
Click Add Client. Enter the company name, the primary contact's email and phone, billing address, and any tags. Save — the client is ready to attach to projects and invoices.
- 3Add additional contacts
Open the client detail → Contacts tab → Add. Use this when the client has multiple stakeholders (project sponsor, accounts payable, day-to-day contact).
- 4Convert a lead
If the person came in through Leads, open the lead and click Convert. Their details pre-fill the client form so you don't retype.
- 5See everything in one place
On the client detail you'll find tabs for Projects, Invoices, Payments, Notes, and Documents — every interaction your team has had with them.
- 6Email a client from the app
Click the email icon next to a contact to open the composer with their address pre-filled. Templates from Settings → Email templates appear in the dropdown.
Tips
Tag clients with industry, tier, or referral source — the tag filter is the fastest way to slice the list later. Soft-deleted clients keep their historical invoices intact so revenue reports stay accurate. A client's primary email is what receipts and invoice notifications go to — keep it current.
Admin configuration
Access groups → `clientAdd`, `clientEdit`, `clientView`, plus `leadContactView`/`leadContactEdit` for fine-grained contact access. Settings → Email templates to customize the language used in client-facing emails.
